Teaching activity


At the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology named after prof. M.G. Gulyamova conducts classes in psychiatry for 5th year students of the medical and pediatric faculties, 5th year students studying in the undergraduate program, 4th year of dental, and 6th year students of the faculty of public health. Clinical residents, interns are also trained at the department, further training courses for doctors - psychiatrists and narcologists are conducted.
As a result of a course in psychiatry, students should:
get acquainted with the history and current state of world and domestic clinical psychiatry and the organization of psychiatric and narcological care in the Republic of Tajikistan;
learn to recognize mental disorders in a timely manner and study the main forms of mental illness, drug addiction, substance abuse - according to the international classification of diseases (10th revision);
be able to identify and study the main psychopathological symptoms and syndromes taking into account the comparative age-related characteristics and to understand the mechanisms underlying them in mental, narcological and somatic patients;
to study the basic methods of treatment and prevention of mental and narcological diseases, labor and social adaptation and rehabilitation, to master the most important aspects of emergency psychiatric care (stopping psychomotor agitation and epileptic status, feeding patients with refusal to food, etc.), be able to organize supervision, retention and transportation of an excited patient;
The educational and methodical activities of the department are carried out as part of work programs and curricula. The department annually develops and publishes teaching aids in the state and Russian languages, updates tests for passing the differential test in psychiatry in the state, Russian and English languages. Over the past 5 years, the department staff published 1 textbook, 15 teaching aids and 1 manual.
