The internship is carried out in order to improve theoretical knowledge and practical skills of graduates of ATSMU or other medical universities, increase the degree of their readiness for independent professional activity in the chosen specialty.

The internship is a mandatory form of professional training and mastered the educational programs of higher medical education. Duration of training in internship is 11 months the form of training is full-time. From the passage of the internship, graduates graduating from the university with honors are released, who enter clinical residency.

Training of interns is carried out according to an individual plan which is developed by appointed managers in accordance with the state requirements for postgraduate professional education a curriculum and a program which is developed by the Avicenna Tajik State Medical University. An individual training plan should be approved by the rector or by the head of the center no later than one month from the date of enrollment in an internship.

The implementation of the individual curriculum and the training program is reflected in the intern's diary, which is weekly analyzed and signed by the head of the intern.

Training in the internship is completed by the final state certification, which is carried out by the Commission of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Tajikistan. At the end of the training period, interns who successfully completed the plan and the training program and passed the final state certification are issued a certificate of completion of the internship of the established sample.
