Tajikistan is officially considered one of the "youngest" countries not only in Central Asia, but also in the entire CIS space. Citizens under the age of 25 make up approximately 53% of the country's population, so Tajikistan can rightfully be called a country of youth. Young people are a source of energy, ideas and innovation. They master new technologies, create startups, win international olympiads, protect the environment and participate in volunteer initiatives. The Government of the Republic of Tajikistan considers youth policy as one of the priority areas of development. Programs in the field of education, employment, entrepreneurship and culture create conditions for the self-realization of young citizens and their active participation in the life of the country. Young people play a significant role in the political, social, economic and cultural life of the country. From the first days of independence, the implementation of the state youth policy of the country has been in the center of attention of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. Youth is the main driving force that gives new meaning and content to large-scale reforms at the national level.

Every year on May 23, all corners of Tajikistan celebrate Youth Day, which is a symbol of recognition of the decisive role of the younger generation in the development of the country. The date of the holiday was chosen in honor of the anniversary of the establishment of the Committee for youth, sports and tourism under the government of the Republic of Tajikistan. The celebration is preceded by the Youth week, within the framework of which various events supported by the committee are held. These events include sports competitions, competitions, cultural events and creative evenings, etc.

According to the UN classification, young people include girls and boys from 15 to 24 years old. In the era of independence, the youth of our country received special attention and support from the Founder of peace and national unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, who pursues a wise purposeful policy to create all the necessary conditions for the comprehensive development of youth. Young people are the future of our country and play an important role in all spheres of society. The state youth policy of the Republic of Tajikistan is aimed at supporting and unlocking the potential of the younger generation, creating conditions for quality education, employment, motivating young professionals and encouraging talents. The youth of Tajikistan are active participants in public life, innovators who contribute to economic growth, strengthening national values and the international image of the country.

The state actively invests in the intellectual development of young people. Key initiatives include:

·         Presidential quota (since 2005), according to which more than 5,000 students from remote regions study;

·         Durakhshandagon international scholarship program, with more than 13,000 students studying abroad;

·         Scholarship of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, about 4,200 pupils and students were awarded;

·         Increasing the availability of foreign language learning and digital skills.

All of the above forms a solid foundation for personnel sovereignty and innovative development of the country.

On Youth Day, various celebrations are held in different cities of Tajikistan. In the capital of the country, youth marches are regularly held in honor of the holiday, in which thousands of people take part. During this period, cultural, sports and educational events are held throughout the country: concerts, poetry evenings, sports competitions (races, bicycle marathons), exhibitions, forums, competitions. 

According to Emomali Rahmon, it is very important to convey to the Tajik youth that it is they who are entrusted with the future fate of the Tajik people and state. The joint efforts of young people should contribute to the expansion and development of national identity and patriotism, strengthening national unity.

"You are the youth who are the builders of the bright future of Tajikistan and the reliable support of the state and the nation, have a high sense of nationality, sincerely love your beloved Motherland, faithfully defend it and are proud to be the children of one of the ancient peoples, cultural and civilizing builders of the world. I fully trust your mind, ingenuity, self-knowledge, courage, courage, perseverance, mental and physical strength - the children of the period of independence of Tajikistan. I am sure that you will continue the traditions of patriotism, creation and improvement of our people, make our beloved Tajikistan prosperous and progressive, and further increase its authority in the international arena."
