NAVRUZ IS AN ANCIENT SPRING HOLIDAY

At the department of propaedeutics of children's diseases of the State Educational Institution "Avicenna Tajik State Medical University" from March 18 to 19 under the guidance of senior lecturer Khojaeva O.T. an open lesson on the theme: "Navruz - ancient spring holiday" was held with the participation of the department staff and students of 15, 41, 47, 48 groups of the 3rd year of the medical faculty.

Navruz is a holiday of spring equinox and the beginning of a new agricultural year in Persian-speaking and some Turkic-speaking peoples of Kazakhstan, Central and Small Asia, Iran, as well as among Bashkirs and Tatars.

Navruz in translation from Farsi means "new day", the day of the vernal equinox, which comes on the night of March 21-22. At this time, the day equals the night: the days become longer and the nights shorter. Nature wakes up, a new solar year comes, purification of souls and the beginning of a new life. The holiday Nowruz is one of the oldest and most important holidays on Earth.

The traditional ritual for Navruz is to make haft sin. There should be seven (haft) products on the table, the names of which begin with the letter "sin" in the Persian alphabet: ruta seeds - sipand, apple - seb, black seeds - siakhdaneh, wild olive - sanjid, vinegar - sirkeh, garlic - sir and sprouted grain - sabzi. In Navruz the festive table must be decorated with dishes symbolizing rebirth and new life: sprouted wheat grains, boiled eggs, a glass of water with live fish, festive bread or flatbread, a bowl of water in which a green leaf should float, a bowl of rose water, fruits, nuts, almonds, fish, milk, sour milk, cheese. The magical seven objects and foods on the table become a symbolic gift to the Sun, who, accepting this gift, should take care of a rich harvest. On this day children go door-to-door singing songs about Navruz and are gifted with sweets. Artists perform in the streets, writers compete, songs and jokes are heard. Fun and laughter continue until late evening, and in the morning the celebration continues, though not with the same splendor, but just in the home circle.
