PRESIDENT’S DAY IN THE REPUBLIC OF TAJIKISTAN

On November 16, 2024, the Republic of Tajikistan will celebrate President’s Day. Established as a national holiday in 2016 by resolution of the Supreme Assembly, this date honors the leadership and achievements of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon. This year marks the 30th anniversary of his election as Head of State, commemorating three decades of dedicated service to the nation.

Emomali Rahmon was born on October 5, 1952, in the village of Danghara in the Kulyab region into a peasant family. He began his professional career in 1969 upon completing his studies at Vocational School №40 in Kalininabad (now Sarband), taking up the position of foreman-electrician at the Kurgan-Tube Oil Factory. From 1976 to 1987, Emomali Rahmon held roles as secretary of the board and chairman of the trade union committee at the Lenin State Farm, eventually becoming the director of the state farm, a role he held until 1992. His political career commenced in 1990 with his election as a people’s deputy of the XII Supreme Soviet of Tajikistan. On November 19, 1992, during the XVI session of the Supreme Soviet, Emomali Rahmon was appointed Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of Tajikistan. Two years later, through popular vote, he was entrusted with the responsibilities of the President of Tajikistan.

Today, we proudly celebrate the Day of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, who has dedicated his life to fostering peace, stability, and prosperity in our nation. Through his tireless efforts, the citizens of Tajikistan enjoy a secure, dignified life and a promising future for our state. The people of Tajikistan deeply respect and value the exceptional contributions of our President, extending heartfelt gratitude for his role in securing peace and stability.

The peacemaking initiatives led by the head of state have garnered substantial recognition, both domestically and internationally, including prestigious state and foreign honors, highlighting his commitment to establishing and maintaining regional stability. Emomali Rahmon has been awarded numerous orders, medals, and honorary titles, such as the title of Hero of Tajikistan (1999), Russia's Order of Alexander Nevsky, the Ruby Star “Peacemaker,” the Golden Jubilee Medal of Avicenna, and Afghanistan’s National Hero award named after Ahmad Shah Massoud, among others.

We take great pride in our nation’s observance of this holiday, which unites citizens dedicated to their homeland, demonstrating selfless devotion and a tireless commitment to the nation’s prosperity.
