PATRIOTIC EDUCATION OF STUDENTS IN A MODERN UNIVERSITY

February 13-14-15 days, 2023 was held a mini-conference at the Department of Foreign Languages of SEI “ATSMU”, under the leader of teacher Karimova M.D. with the participation of department staff and students 46, 49, 50, 51,54 groups of the 2nd year medical faculty.

         Assistant Karimova M.D. made speech and noted, that «Patriotic education of young people is one of the main issues in the development of Tajikistan. This is evidenced in the normative documents. The analysis of pedagogical literature shows that the issue of patriotic education has been constantly paid attention both in theory and practice. Patriotic education is now a priority in educational policy. It is in higher education that the formation of the civil position of the individual on the basis of spiritual and moral values takes place. The fate of the state depends largely on the views of young people: the preservation of culture, history, national and spiritual unity. However, the decline in the educational potential of higher education institutions has led to a change in the attitude of the younger generation towards spiritual and moral values and ideals; there is a degradation of patriotic consciousness among a significant number of students, a weakening of personal motivation for the formation of patriotic qualities required for a patriot of their country. Particular attention is drawn to the fact that in the actions of young people there are such negative facts as lying, conformism, indifference to immoral actions, manifestation of immorality, cynicism. At the same time, universities have all opportunities for patriotic education of students both in the learning process and outside class time».

         At the same time, higher education institutions have all the opportunities for patriotic education of students both in the learning process and during extracurricular time. All this will make it possible to take a fresh look at the formation of the concepts of patriotism and patriotic education, which will form the basis of an ideology of tolerance, a culture of inter-ethnic relations, respect for elders, love for one's native land and country and readiness to take personal responsibility for the fate of one's country. For Tajikistan, the transformations of the twenty-first century marked the beginning of the formation of civil society, the transition to a market economy, and the recognition of the human being as the highest value. These changes have made it possible to define new guidelines for the process of upbringing. Upbringing of patriotism has become a major necessity for the younger generation. Based on the above, we can say that patriotic education of young people is one of the leading directions of state policy in Tajikistan. Today's task for teachers of higher education is to educate a patriot for whom the concepts of 'Motherland', 'honour', 'love', 'history', 'memory' and others would be at the head of all life values. Education and training in higher education are the main components of the process of becoming a citizen of the future specialist.

         The democratic and socio-economic development of the country depends on its social position and views. However, the decline in the importance of the educational potential of culture, history, literature and education has led to the predominance of mass pragmatic values and "pop culture" among a certain part of the youth. Increase of awareness of the young generation,

         Democratization processes and the creation of a multiparty system have led to a break with former values and a search for new moral reference points. In modern conditions the educational work in higher education institution is one of the key areas of the content of education, aimed at the formation of a citizen of his homeland, ready to transform the region and homeland as a whole in the framework of traditions and spiritual values of his people and the moral ideals of all mankind.

         Today, the conceptual and terminological apparatus of patriotism education has been developed in science. Scientists present different points of view on this issue. The methodological approaches of patriotic education (on the basis of nature-based, culturological, axiological, activity-based, etc.), purpose, essence, tasks, specificity of the content and organization of patriotic education of youth were considered. In our work we used the following research methods: theoretical (analysis, synthesis, systematization, generalization, etc.) and empirical (observation of students' behavior, oral polls, questionnaires). The use of theoretical methods shows that the problem of patriotism and patriotic education is one of the significant problems of society, state, personality throughout the history of mankind. Since the emergence of the state and to the present day, the interest of scientists and politicians to the issue in question remains unchanged. To obtain reliable data we used empirical research methods that allowed us to determine the level of patriotic education of students, their experience of patriotic activity; to identify problems and contradictions in order to further correct the educational process in the university.

         The concept of patriotism is not uniformly interpreted in the pedagogical literature. The Pedagogical Dictionary treats this notion as follows: "Love for the fatherland, for one's native land, for one's cultural environment. These natural bases of patriotism as a natural feeling are combined with its moral significance as a duty and virtue". We understand patriotic education as a process, aimed at the formation of personal patriotic consciousness, reflecting the attitude of man to his homeland; the level of development of patriotic feelings; readiness for conscious service to the Motherland and the experience of subjective activity for the benefit of his people. The main objective of patriotic education is the education of a citizen of his/her Motherland, who is ready to transform his/her native land and Motherland as a whole in accordance with the traditions and spiritual values of his/her people and the moral ideals of all mankind.

         Conclusion. At present, one of the main problems of Tajik society is patriotic education of youth. The importance of patriotism in personal development has been noted by many scientists of philosophical, pedagogical and psychological science. The works of researchers have made an invaluable contribution to the theory and practice of patriotic education. Having analyzed the literature, as well as the results of the conducted research, we can say that patriotic education of university students is a very complex process, which is formed under the influence of the social order of society. Therefore, a huge work of all institutions of society is required today. In the context of solving this problem a special role is given to the system of higher professional organization. Professional training of future specialists in higher education institutions is a complex in structure, multi-component pedagogical model, it is necessary to pay special attention to the education of students, because in the process of professional formation of a future specialist an active comprehension and awareness of social position and responsibility takes place. It is in adolescence that a student is most ready to realize himself/herself as an individual, can bear responsibility not only for himself/herself, but also for others for the benefit of the Motherland. Effective patriotic education in higher education is the way to the spiritual and moral revival of society and the restoration of the country's power. Patriotic education should be one of the most important areas of educational work and should be of a planned, systematic and active nature.
