MEHRGON: AN ANCIENT CELEBRATION OF THE TAJIK PEOPLE

On October 10, 2024, a meeting was held in the department of internal medicine №3, attended by department staff, clinical residents, interns, sixth-year students from the medical faculty (groups 77 to 82), fourth-year students from the faculty of stomatology (groups 5, 6, 7, and 8), and employees of the "Shifobakhsh" medical center. The theme of the meeting was “Mehrgon: The Ancient Celebration of the Tajik People”.

The event was organized by the head of the department c.m.s., associate professor Uroqov K.Z., who commenced the proceedings with congratulatory remarks. He emphasized that during the era of independence, under the initiative of the Founder of Peace and National Unity—the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon the national holidays of Navruz, Sada, and Mehrgon are celebrated once again with great prominence. Today, Mehrgon stands as a holiday for farmers, symbolizing the celebration of the harvest and the abundance of agricultural products. It serves as a blessing for life and reflects the joy of the cultured and industrious people of Tajikistan.

Additionally, Senior Teacher Hasanov J.M. of the department, along with second-year clinical residents Isroilov M. and Safarov F., emphasized in their speech that the Mehrgon holiday, celebrated in October, is recognized as a national holiday in the Republic of Tajikistan, marked by its unique splendor. The Mehrgon festival will showcase its distinctive features, including the exhibition and sale of agricultural and horticultural products, as well as cultural and artistic handicrafts.
