Meeting of the Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg and the Rector of Avicenna Tajik State Medical University

May 25th , 2022 in the framework of the cultural and business mission of St. Petersburg delegation in Dushanbe, which began May 23th and had ended in 26th , had taken place the meeting of St. Petersburg vice-governor Oleg Ergashev and the rector of the Avicenna Tajik State Medical University Mahmadsho Qurbonali. At the meeting, the sides had exchanged views on the prospects of development of the industry. In particular, the Rector of the Avicenna Tajik State Medical University noted that the university has established effective cooperation with the leading medical universities of the Russian Federation, including the St. Petersburg Medical University. He also mentioned that there are currently students from 21 countries studying at the Avicenna Tajik State Medical University. The total number of international students at the university amounts to 1,900 undergraduates. The deputy governor of St. Petersburg, in his turn, had noted that the medical industry of St. Petersburg is developing on the basis of new technologies. New methods of treatment are being introduced, and one of the big achievements is lung transplantation surgery. New vaccines are being developed, doctors introduce modern methods of infectious disease prevention, which is a very important step in the period of the Covid-19 pandemic. Then, in the university' s big auditorium, the Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg Oleg Nikolaevich Ergashev addressed a lecture to senior students of the Avicenna Tajik State Medical University. It should be noted that Oleg Nikolaevich Ergashev is an experienced doctor and in the past had taught at the department of hospital surgery at the First St. Petersburg State Medical University named after Academician Pavlov. He has an academic degree of "Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor. During the lecture, the professor provided future physicians with information about the work of the medical service during the pandemic. "During the pandemic the whole health care system of the city was fully re-equipped and we were able to withstand 5 waves of COVID-19 pandemic", - added Professor Ergashev O.N.
