Women's Day has the status of an international holiday. March 8th is a celebration of spring and love, women's beauty and family values.    The tradition of celebrating International Women's Day on March 8th was established by a demonstration which was held in 1857 by workers in textile and clothing factories in New York to protest against terrible working conditions and low wages. They demanded shorter working hours, better working conditions, and equal wages with men. On March 8, 1908, at the call of the New York Social Democratic Women's Organization, a rally was held with slogans about equal rights for women. On that day more than 15,000 women marched through the city. There was also a demand for women's suffrage. In 1909, the Socialist Party of America declared a national women's day, celebrated until 1913, on the last Sunday in February. In 1909 it was February 28.

In Tajikistan, Mother's Day - March 8th is celebrated to honor women mothers, educators of generations, mentors of young people, and sustainable pillars of the family. Mother's Day in Tajikistan has been celebrated annually since 2009 by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the esteemed Emomali Rahmon.
