On 18 January 2025, as part of the bilateral cooperation between JICA and ATSMU, a significant International Education Day event was held at the Department of Environmental Health. The event was organised with the support of JICA Senior Volunteer, Mr. Akira Watanabe.

The main objectives of the event were:

To explore the research activities of the departments invited to the event;

To establish and develop partnerships between the departments;

To develop recommendations for improving the educational programmes of the participating departments;

To expand academic and scientific opportunities for the teaching staff of the departments.

During the event, the scientific activities of five departments from the Faculty of Preventive Medicine—Epidemiology, Public Health, Hygiene and Ecology, Environmental Health, and Microbiology—were discussed. The focus was on establishing and strengthening partnerships, modernising and improving educational programmes, fostering integration between departments, and expanding academic and research opportunities for faculty members.

JICA Senior Volunteer, Mr. Akira Watanabe, who has been actively involved for two years, delivered a presentation titled “Evaluation and Recommendations on the Educational Process of the Faculty of Preventive Medicine.”

The event concluded with discussions on plans for further cooperation in 2025.
