CHOOSE THE RIGHT WAY - THE WAY OF HUMAN RIGHTS
The first demonstration of solidarity with individuals living with HIV, along with the commemoration of those who have died from AIDS-related illnesses, was held in 1988.
Each year, the United Nations agency, national governments, and civil society organizations collaborate to advocate for specific issues related to HIV.
1. Awareness campaigns and educational events are organized globally across various regions.
2. Many individuals wear a red ribbon, an internationally recognized symbol of solidarity with people living with HIV.
3. Individuals living with HIV are provided platforms to voice their concerns and highlight key issues impacting their lives.
4. Networks of individuals living with HIV, along with community-based AIDS organizations, engage in mobilization efforts to support affected communities and generate financial resources for their initiatives.
5. The ongoing activities emphasize the current state of the AIDS epidemic, drawing widespread attention to its persistence and implications.
The global response to AIDS remains crucial, serving as a reminder to individuals and governments that the HIV epidemic is far from eradicated. Securing additional financial resources to support AIDS-related initiatives is essential for raising awareness about HIV's impact on people's lives, combating stigma and discrimination, and enhancing the quality of life for individuals living with HIV.
