CAPITAL CITY DAY IN DUSHANBE
A capital city is a symbol of statehood and serves as the political, economic, and cultural center of every country. The capital of the Republic of Tajikistan is the beautiful and charming city of Dushanbe. Every year, Capital City Day is celebrated in Tajikistan with special grandeur, and this day is a sign of the people’s respect and love for our beloved capital. The name “Dushanbe” comes from the word “Dushanbe,” meaning the second day of the week (Monday). It is said that in the past a large market was held at this place every Monday. At the beginning of the 20th century, the city was known as a small village, but after the establishment of the Republic of Tajikistan, it developed rapidly and became an important political and cultural center. Today, Dushanbe is recognized as the main center of statehood, the residence of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, and a venue for important political and international events. Dushanbe is located in the western part of Tajikistan, in the Hissar Valley. The nature and mild climate of the city are very favorable for living. Beautiful mountains surround the city and give it a special charm. Dushanbe is the center of science, education, and culture of the country. The city is home to prestigious universities and institutes, including Tajik National University. There are also many cultural institutions, museums, and libraries. One of the cultural symbols of the capital is the National Library of Tajikistan, which attracts attention with its modern architecture. Among the city’s beautiful and historical places are Rudaki Park and the Ismoil Somoni Monument, which embody national pride. Capital City Day is celebrated annually in April. On this day, cultural events, concerts, exhibitions, and festive programs are held in Dushanbe. The city is decorated, and residents and guests take part in the celebrations in a festive spirit. This day symbolizes unity, peace, and progress of Tajikistan. Dushanbe is the heart of Tajikistan. The development of the capital reflects the development of the entire country. We must love our dear city, keep it clean and beautiful, and contribute to its further prosperity. Capital City Day is a day of pride and honor for every citizen of Tajikistan.
