WTO: THE REPUBLIC OF TAJIKISTAN HAS MADE SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS IN REDUCING MATERNAL AND INFANT MORTALITY

The representative of the World Health Organization Ilker Dangarin noted the significant progress of the Republic of Tajikistan in terms of reducing maternal and child mortality. This was noted at the first meeting of the interdepartmental working group "Healthcare" within the framework of the National Development Council under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan. This was reported to NIAT "Khovar" by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic.

On October 29, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, together with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan and the United Nations Development Program in Tajikistan, within the framework of the National Development Council under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, held the first meeting of the interdepartmental working group "Healthcare".

At the meeting, the members of the interdepartmental working group got acquainted with the role of the National Development Council under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan as a platform for developing a common policy in the field of sustainable development, tasks and functions of the working group, including representatives of government agencies, development partners, the private sector and public organizations.

The participants of the interdepartmental working group discussed health issues, as well as achievements and problems of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan in terms of implementing the medium-term development program of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2016-2020 and other sectoral programs within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

At the meeting, the representative of the World Health Organization Ilker Dasuk said that he was present at this meeting, noted the significant progress of the Republic of Tajikistan in terms of reducing maternal and child mortality. The main obstacles to achieving a strong healthcare system were considered, such as the quality of care, insufficient coverage of vulnerable segments of society and a poor system of personnel in the healthcare sector.

At the end of the meeting, a training module was held to strengthen the capacity of the members of the working group, which will last until October 30. The main purpose of the training module is to teach participants the basics of strategic planning of the industry, resource mobilization, as well as the monitoring and evaluation system.

In order to improve the system of monitoring and reporting on the implementation of national, sectoral and local programs, as well as the SDGs, the secretariat of the National Development Council under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, working groups consisting of representatives of ministries and departments, public organizations and development partners are being created. In general, 14 interdepartmental working groups of the National Council on sect oral development directions have been organized with the priority direction of the national development strategy for the period up to 2030 and the CPR.
