The main role of the department is to train students in the subject of pharmaceutical technology, which are carried out in accordance with the approved plan. Students of the 3rd, 4th and 5th year of the Faculty of Pharmacy are studying at the department in two languages: in Tajik and in Russian.To optimize the educational process during these years, some changes in teaching were introduced (test control of the level of students' knowledge, and the solution of situational problems). For this, more than 1000 test questions have been compiled.From 2016, training at the departments of the Faculty of Pharmacy has been conducted on a credit-modular system. Using the credit system, is possible to solve the following goals and objectives: objectively assess the knowledge of students, intensify the conduct of classes by setting up independent work of students and stimulating their creative capabilities, inform about the preliminary results of the classes, timely warn about the possible final assessment of academic performance in the semester, stimulate interest in the subject under study, attract to participate in the SNO.
The rating of control of current knowledge and independent work of students is estimated by:
- The results of oral replies during the review of the current topic;
- Results of laboratory works and interpretation of the obtained data and their use;
- Results of testing of student’s knowledge on the topic of practical training.
By the end of the class, the three items listed are rated, which are converted to points under the established credit system.
In accordance with the general learning system, students are given the opportunity to obtain good and excellent grades, which obliges them to prepare for classes responsibly and to master the entire curriculum.For students of the faculty, taking into account the specialized classes for the period 2012-2020, the teachers of the Department produced many methodological developments and a course of lectures on pharmaceutical technology, biopharmation, biotechnology and standardization of medicines in two languages.
The department annually publishes methodological developments for pharmaceutical faculty students in Tajik and Russian.
Special blank pages are left in these methodological developments so that students can independently explain their conclusions about the practical works carried out and answer the relevant questions on the topic. As well as every practical work of the student is carried out under the control of the teacher, and conclusions are noted in a notebook.
In the methodological development there are control questions for each topic and for the final lessons.
Currently, there are many different diseases in the world such as cancer, diseases of the cardiovascular system, diabetes, etc. In recent years, the attention of researchers has attracted diabetes mellitus as it is among endocrine diseases is widespread throughout the world, especially in developed countries. In addition, the department staff concluded to develop highly effective dosage forms based on LRS for the treatment of this disease. In traditional medicine, a number of medicinal plants, in particular: girasol tubers -Helianthus tuberoses L., have long been used for diabetes, atherosclerosis, diseases of the cardiovascular system and gastrointestinal tract. In recent years, various biologically active additives have been obtained from these plants.
In this regard, phytochemical research of girasol tubers and development of therapeutic and preventive agents based on it is a pressing task.
The theme of our research is “Standardization of varieties of girasol artichoke cultivated in Tajikistan and on their basis the creation of therapeutic and preventive means”. Moreover, And on the part of the staff of the departmentof (head of the department c.ph.s Safarzoda R.Sh), a number of methods of obtaining a thick and dry extract from girasol tubers were developed and a medicinal form of capsules was created based on it. Anatomics - diagnostic signs of girasol tubers - have been studied on the part of staff of the department. Phytochemical analysis of girasol tubers was carried out using modern physical and chemical methods, namely the composition of free and bound carbohydrates, amino acids, ascorbic acid, as well as methods of identification and quantitative determination of polysaccharides, saponins and tanning substances in girasol tubers were developed.
The Department of pharmaceutical technology closely cooperates with TNU, the Institute of chemistry and botany of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikitan, as well as with neighboring countries (Pharm faculty of MMU. I. M. Sechenova, Perm pharmaceutical Academy (Russia), Pharm faculty of the Belarusian state medical University, National pharmaceutical University (Ukraine) and far abroad (Ruprecht-Karl-UnversityHeidelberg (Germany).
In collaboration with the Department of pharmaceutical chemistry and toxicology, a method of qualitative and quantitative analysis of BAS was developed. An experimental analysis of the hypoglycemic properties of Jerusalem artichoke tubers was carried out with the Department of pharmacology. With the Department of biochemistry, an experimental blood test was conducted on the level of glucose in groups of experimental animals, using the method of centrifugation. Macro and microscopic analyses of LRS were performed with the Department of pharmacognosy and phytochemical properties of zeravshansky hyssop, Gorky wormwood, and Jerusalem artichoke were studied. In collobaration with TNU, the chemical composition of Gorky's palyn was studied. With PMMU im. Sechenov developed and obtained a capsule of dry Jerusalem artichoke extract. With the National pharmaceutical University (Ukraine), a technology for the production of soft dosage forms based on zeravshansky hyssop was developed. Dry extract was obtained from Karaganda medical University. With the Perm pharmaceutical Academy (Russia), bila developed a method for cleaning and obtaining bentonite clays, etc.
The main results of the scientific research works of the Department are published at the year-long scientific and practical conference of the ATSMU; scientific conferences of young scientists and students of ATSMU with the participation of foreign specialists; On peer-reviewed bulletin of the HHC of the RF, on peer-reviewed journals of the HCC of the Republic of Tajikistan, and other both state and international bulletin.
History of the department
In the seventies, there were difficult conditions in the provision of medicines to the population of the Republic. During the summer period, this problem has become particularly acute due to the sharp increase in intestinal infections among the child population, as well as the lack of pharmaceutical personnel. In this regard, in 1979, the First Congress of Pharmacists of Tajikistan was organized, and it decided on the advisability of opening a pharmaceutical faculty at the Tajik State Medical Institute with the number of admissions of 50 or more students.
In 1980, the Government of the Republic decided to establish a pharmaceutical faculty at the ATSMU. However, a serious problem arose for the opening of the faculty; it turned out that in our republic there were practically no scientific personnel in the pharmaceutical sciences. In order to carry out the task promptly, the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan then Minister of Health of the RT I.A. Saghenin and Rector of the ATSMU U.B. Ishaki - d.m.n. Professor, decided to send to the targeted graduate school, among the best personnel of pharmacy workers of the regions and Dushanbe. The Head of the AGPD of the MH RT recommended from Dushanbe R.K. Yasinov, Z.G Maksudov., from Kulab D.R. Khalifaev (who are the head of the APU region ), from Leninabad region. APU J. Yusupov.
In 1983, Khalifaev D.R. was completing his thesis. At the end of 1983, after successfully defending his PhD thesis and returned to the ATSMU and began teaching, already with students of the 3rd year of the pharmaceutical faculty. At that, time at the department worked 2 Candidate of sciences Khalifaev D.R. and Guberman S.A., and the rest of the vacancies were staffed by part-time pharmaceutical production (Rizoev F.B., Pulatov N.P., Davlatkhadamov S). The laborants were - Saids N.B. and Sultanazarova Z. Further staffing of the department took place at the expense of graduates of the faculty (Nasakina L. A., Jamshedov D.N., Musoev S.M., Rakhimov D.A., Zoirov S. B., Sadulloev D. Sh., Hasanova Z.S., Gulmurodov A.S., Gulbekov M.I., and Safarzoda R.Sh. Abdukarimzoda Kh).
The main tasks of staff member of the department were to develop the educational guidelines, educational and working programs, design of educational rooms and stands with visual aids, provision of demonstration material, technical facilities, and equipment for production of medicines and evaluation of their qualities. In 1988, the department was transferred to the base of the pharmaceutical factory of the General Pharmacy Department of the Republic, but in 1992, due to the reconstruction of the factory, the department was transferred to the vacated premises of the material department of pharmacy №1. The staff of the department organized 4 training rooms and biopharmacy laboratories, which are equipped with the most modern equipment and apparatus. The Department of Pharmaceutical Technology is one of the oldest departments of the SEI “ATSMU” MH and SHP RT. It was organized in 1981. Professor D.R. Khalifaev (1981-2015) was appointed the first head. In the period 2015 -2017 c.ph.s., A.Kh.Valiev headed the department. From 2018, the department has been headed by c.ph.s. Safarzoda Ramazon Sharofiddin. The Department of Pharmaceutical Technology is the producing department. The department teaches subjects for students from 3 to 5 courses: "Pharmaceutical technology" (pharmacy and industrial production) Biopharmation, Biotechnology. As a logical completion of the course, students undergo training and production practices in pharmacies, in enterprises of Dushanbe and in pharmacies of medical and preventive institutions. At the end of the course, it is planned to perform course works and course examinations. "Pharmaceutical technology" is included in the state certification of graduates, as it is a specialized professional discipline based on knowledge of fundamental departments and other specialized disciplines. The department has an experienced staff of teachers. The total number of faculty members is currently 7 people, 50% of the total number of faculty members of the department are candidates and doctors of science. The department covers a useful area of over 120 m2. The classrooms of the department are equipped with modern educational technological and analytical equipment. When conducting practical exercises and lectures, tables, photo albums, thematic sets of slides, multimedia presentations, films, videos, etc. are used. The department of pharmaceutical technology has a student scientific circle, which unites students of 3-5 courses who are actively engaged in scientific work.
